Reflection
The succeeding two artifacts, Critical Pedagogy and Pictures from Shopping Day lesson belong in Standard Two, one as my proof I understand how students learn; the other one is proof of the opportunity I had using that knowledge. Critical Pedagogy is a response to the book of the same name. I wrote this response during one of my undergraduate classes. In it, I described what I learned about the way students learn. Within the teachings I gathered from Critical Pedagogy was the idea of naming the problem, thinking critically and acting upon the circumstance. Students learn better when they experience during the process, when inquiry was present their environment inquired them, and then they are able to produce a solution.
The Shopping Day lesson belongs on Standard Two because it was a lesson created from students’ experiences, for them to question the mathematics used in the real world, and then produced a solution. Students worked in teams becoming part of developing socially. Students’ usage of mathematics and resources contributed to developing intellectually. Finally, students were responsible to communicate their results, when accomplishing the task students reached personal success. Conclusively, I have a clear understanding of human development and learning which I have earned from my past classes and also from the experiences I have lived.
