Classroom Management Philosophy
Students learn better when they are not stress about the information they are learning. When students experienced what they have learned and have memories to associate such information to real-life situations, is easier for them to remember what they have learned. Part of students’ success comes from what teachers assume and expect from them. As a teacher, I will assume my students want to succeed at school. I will ask them about their interests and expectations, and assumed they have the strength to fight for what they want.
At the same time, students will be asked to participate in their learning, by giving examples of how they would like to be instructed and assessed; providing me with ideas to help students feel engaged in class. Furthermore, from the beginning, my expectations about their behavior and participation, during class, will be stated clearly. There are three headline expectations: mutual respect, participation, and acceptance. This list will grow and develop better as I grow and develop as a teacher. Consequences for students will be individualized and evaluated according to each situation. Though, the consequences will be logic and appropriated, to ensure students’ reflection on their actions. The rewards would be also appropriate to celebrate their participation and success. Overall, my classroom management will reflect my support towards students’ success, along to my concern for their development of good manners, respect and discipline.
